Bandon Grammar School
'Bandon Grammar School - A History'
24 Nov 2019
Tomorrow marks a very important day for Bandon Grammar School, with the Launch of 'Bandon Grammar School – A History' written by our Principal Ian Coombes. On the eve of this special occasion, staff and students are putting the finishing touches on arrangements for this memorable event. Behind the scenes, posters have been hung, chairs are in place and the books have been unpacked. Our ever-modest Principal is taking preparations in his stride. A past pupil and teacher of the school, and principal for over 23 years, Mr Coombes will see his book being launched by the schools most famous son, the inimitable Graham Norton. The beautifully illustrated hard back edition has been well worth the blood, sweat and tears in its three years of production and we congratulate Mr Coombes on his perseverance and dedication to the publication. In addition to launching the Book, Mr Norton will also bring attention to a very worthwhile project tomorrow, with a Secret Postcard Auction in aid of The Burren Chernobyl Project. Past pupils & members of the public were invited to send in a piece of art and they did not disappoint, with hundreds of beautiful cards, from many famous and some not so famous individuals. Ms. Devoy-Pullin and Mr. Twomey have worked tirelessly on this charity fundraiser and the response has been overwhelming. With a minimum of €10 donation for one post card and beautiful handmade ceramic Christmas Tree decorations to choose from, there is something for everyone who wishes to contribute to the worthy Burren Chernobyl Project. We hope pupils, staff and all our invited guests will enjoy tomorrows momentous celebrations and everyone associated with Bandon Grammar School is very proud to help mark 'Bandon Grammar School – A History' by Ian Coombes in this special way.
